On Friday 19 May 2023, Klibur Domin received the Medal of the Order of Timor-Leste from the President of Timor-Leste, Jose Ramos Horta, in recognition of its contribution to Timor-Leste and the Timorese people.

Klibur Domin’s Managing Director, Joaquim Soares, was bestowed with the Medal in the presence of Peter Newton, Klibur Domin’s original founder.

However, the Medal acknowledged the contribution of everyone who has been involved in Klibur Domin’s success over the past 23 years, including staff and volunteers.

The Medal presentation took place at the Presidential Palacio Nobre at Lahane in the hills above Dili. There were many other Award recipients and with their guests also present, making it a gala event. Timorese and international media provided wide coverage of the event.

The Award is considered a most prestigious accolade in Timor-Leste. The Medal of the Order of Timor-Leste is awarded to recognise and thank those individuals who have made a significant contribution for the benefit of Timor-Leste, the Timorese, or Mankind.
