Klibur Domin’s goal is to provide contribution to the efforts of Timor-Leste Ministry of Health to achieve a rapid decline in incidence and mortality (death) due to TB while moving on track to achieve reduction in the incidence of TB (all forms) by 70% by 2025 and 90% by 2035 then hopefully ending TB in Timor.
TB is a disease caused by germs that are spread from person to person through the air.
TB usually affects the lungs, but it can also affect other parts of the body, such as the brain, the kidneys, or the spine.
Poverty facilitates the transmission of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, primarily through 1) living conditions, such as people living in overcrowded and poorly ventilated homes, 2) prolonged diagnostic delay and 3) increased vulnerability due to malnutrition and/or HIV infection.

The following are the major activities that Klibur Domin is implementing or has already implemented in various areas under the Community- Based TB program. We:
• identify TB sufferers through active case finding and contact tracing;
• diagnose by smear microscopy using a GeneXpert machine;
• provide accommodation, good nutrition and medical treatment for suspects and patients in both TB and MDR-TB (Multi Drug Resistant TB);
• provide TB health education to school children, youth groups, women’s groups and local leaders;
• train and support community healthcare workers and volunteers to support a TB program in their village.
In 2024, Klibur Domin had screened 13,798 people for TB. Of the 1,165 samples tested in the GeneX-pert machine, 110 TB patients were detected for treatment and 338 people were put on TB preventative therapy.
